COVID-19: Nigeria records 766 new cases + one death across 12 states and the FCT

 


The Nigeria Center for Disease Control [NCDC] on Saturday reported 766 new COVID-19 cases across 12 states and the Federal Capital Territory.   

The health agency also reported one additional COVID-19 related death.   

The NCDC disclosed this on its official Facebook page on Sunday.   

According to the agency’s data, Lagos recorded the highest figures for new infections for the day with 261 cases.   

This is a breakdown of new cases and the States:

  1. Anambra -- 208 cases 
  2. Rivers – 159 cases
  3. Kaduna – 42 cases
  4. Gombe – 25 cases
  5. FCT – 20 cases
  6. Osun – 19 cases
  7. Oyo – 14 cases
  8. Bauchi – 5 cases
  9. Kano – 5 cases
  10. Ekiti – 4 cases
  11. Ebonyi – 2 cases, and 
  12. Ogun – 2 cases. 

The reported 766 new infections have brought the total number of confirmed cases to 247,775 while 218,427 people have recovered and have been discharged.   

However, with one additional fatality reported, the death toll from the virus now stands at 3,071.   

The agency added that a multi-sectoral National Emergency Operations Centre, activated at Level 2, had continued to coordinate the national response activities.
