Ukraine War: What are the latest happenings?

Ukraine President - Volodymyr Zelenskyy warns that Russia will target other European Nations

In a live address to Western leaders this morning, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called for more assistance - and warned Russia could make other parts of Europe it's target.

"We can still stop the Russian war machine, we can still stop the killing of people," he said, arguing it would be "easier to do it together".

"Because else, they will come to you."

Mr Zelenskyy said if Europe does not take a stand now, Russia will target other European countries.

"We all are the targets of Russia... help yourself by helping us," he said.

Number 10 who was among the leaders listening in at the Joint Expeditionary Force meeting, agreed it is a "desperate, desperate moment".

Responding to Mr Zelenskyy, he said leaders "must try to do more to support you".

Abrahimovich gets assets out of Europe

Roman Abramovich appears to be on a mission to evacuate his assets out of Europe as sanctions intensify.

His superyacht, Solaris, worth £430m, is heading south, apparently towards Turkey, after docking in Montenegro on Sunday. Previously, it had been in a repair yard in Barcelona, and had it remained there it might well have been seized by now.

Abramovich has been named on the fourth package of European Union sanctions that will see assets frozen for those Russian oligarchs considered to be linked to President Putin.

Due to sanctions passed last week in the United Kingdom, any cash or property Abramovich holds in the UK are now frozen. His shares on the London stock exchange cannot be sold and won't pay dividends, and he can no longer benefit from the planned £3bn sale of Chelsea Football Club. He is also banned from entering the UK.

Abramovich's second superyacht, Eclipse, is off the coast of Algeria. Its closest European port is Italy where another Russian oligarch, Andrey Melnichenko, recently had a £444m superyacht seized by authorities as part of EU sanctions.

On Sunday night, the Chelsea owner made a whistle-stop trip to Israel, where he is a citizen. Israel currently has no sanctions on Russian oligarchs, and Abramovich owns property in the country.

He was photographed at Tel Aviv's Ben Guiron airport on Monday afternoon before flying for a brief stop in Istanbul. Turkey is another possible safe destination for Russian money. From Istanbul his private Gulfstream G650ER Jet - registration LX-Ray - flew to Moscow in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

A total of 70 Buses Ready to Evacuate Civilians in Sumy

Evacuation attempts are close to being under way in the northeastern city of Sumy this afternoon, according to the Red Cross.

It is understood 70 buses are preparing to depart the region, which has faced heavy bombardments in recent days as the war with Russia persisted.

The Red Cross hopes the latest "safe passage" operation will begin shortly.

"People have assembled, we hope it will go ahead as planned," the International Committee of the Red Cross said. "We are hoping at the very least to start this operation today."

Earlier, it was confirmed that evacuation routes would be established from four cities in the northeastern Sumy region on Tuesday: Sumy, Konotop, Trostianets and Lebedyn.

These were planned to be in place from 9am to 9pm local time (7am to 7pm GMT).

It is unclear if civilians have managed to successfully exit any of the four areas.

Meanwhile: 100,000 Britons open their homes to Ukrainian Refugees

A total of 100,000 people and organisations have recorded their interest in providing a home for Ukrainians who are fleeing the war with Russia.

Yesterday, Michael Gove announced that Britons will be able to bring any Ukrainian to the UK to live in their home for a minimum of six months.

Refugees will be able to live and work in the UK for up to three years.

At 9am, it was reported that almost 89,000 people had signed up to the Homes for Ukraine scheme - but this number has continued to rapidly grow.

Russia Announces Sanctions on US President and His Secretary of State

Russia has imposed sanctions on US President Joe Biden and US secretary of state Anthony Blinken this afternoon.

It is unclear the extent of impact any Russian sanctions on either men will have, and the measure is likely to be largely symbolic in practice.

Most experts suggest Vladimir Putin is keen at portraying the war to a domestic audience as Russia resisting Western agression, particularly the US, and such actions are likely to form part of that narrative.

Some Ukrainian Refugees flee Ukraine for Hungary

Ukrainian refugees were caught on camera arriving in Zahony this afternoon, as they join nearly three million refugees who have fled their homes in the wake of the invasion.

The majority of those entering neighbouring countries have travelled to Poland, however, the latest estimates from the United Nation says 263,000 have arrived in Hungary.
