Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated Emmanuel Macron for his re-election as the president of France.
Mr Macron has become the first French president in 20 years to win a second term after comfortably beating far-right candidate Marine Le Pen.
Mr Putin sent a message to his French counterpart shortly afterwards.
He said: "I sincerely wish you success in your state activities, as well as good health and well-being."

For context: Mr Macron is among few European leaders to have continued communicating with Mr Putin after the invasion of Ukraine in late February.
In March, the French president pledged to continue to do so, despite having failed to influence Russian movements in Ukraine so far.
However, it could be that Mr Macron's re-election comes as somewhat of a blow to Moscow. His rival Ms Le Pen had often been referred to as "Putin's candidate" due to her ties with the Kremlin.
