Brief History of Monash University 

Monash University (/ˈmɒnæʃ/) is a public research university based in MelbourneVictoriaAustralia. Named for prominent World War I general Sir John Monash, it was founded in 1958 and is the second oldest university in the state. The university has a number of campuses, four of which are in Victoria (ClaytonCaulfieldPeninsula, and Parkville), and one in Malaysia. Monash also has a research and teaching centre in Prato, Italy, a graduate research school in Mumbai, India and graduate schools in Suzhou, China and TangerangIndonesia. Monash University courses are also delivered at other locations, including South Africa.

Monash is home to major research facilities, including the Monash Law School, the Australian Synchrotron, the Monash Science Technology Research and Innovation Precinct (STRIP), the Australian Stem Cell CentreVictorian College of Pharmacy, and 100 research centres and 17 co-operative research centres. In 2019, its total revenue was over $2.72 billion (AUD), with external research income around $462 million. In 2019, Monash enrolled over 55,000 undergraduate and over 25,000 graduate students. It has more applicants than any other university in the state of Victoria.[9]

Monash is a member of Australia's Group of Eight research universities, a member of the ASAIHL, and is the only Australian member of the M8 Alliance of Academic Health Centers, Universities and National Academies. Monash is one of the Australian universities to be ranked in the École des Mines de Paris (Mines ParisTech) ranking on the basis of the number of alumni listed among CEOs in the 500 largest worldwide companies. Scholarship Details

The 2023 Monash University Leadership International Scholarship is only offered to international students who have applied for a degree programme at Monash University. The applicants must have enrolled in a full-time study and hold an admission offer for the same programme to be considered for this application worth the full-tuition fee. 


All applications for this scholarship are to come in on or before Tuesday November 15th, 2022 and this scholarship opportunity is open to international students from all countries of the world. It is open to both 'undergraduate applicants' and 'masters applicants' with 100% course fees and a total number of four (4) awards. 


Eligibility Requirements:

  • Applicants must be international students.
  • Applicants must meet the entry requirements of the university’s for international students to be admitted in an undergraduate or postgraduate programme at Monash.
  • Applicants must submit scores of the following English language proficiency tests:
    • IELTS – 6.5
    • TOEFL IBT – 79
    • TOEFL PBT – 550
    • PTE – 58
    • CAE/CPE – 176

How to Apply: Admission applications must be submitted via the online portal of the university. The applicants who want to win this application must submit a application statement (500 words) and a separate application form.
